In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.(Genesis:1-3,NIV)
Light. The all powerful brightener of the day. Sunshine and glistening sparkle that brings us out of our caves and into the... light. Over the last few years I've been on a journey one that has yet to end, and will never end. That journey has continually brought me back to a few of my lights. Cooking and Crafts.
I believe we all have many "lights" in our life that brighten us. These lights live inside us and show the rest of the world who we are. My belief in God and His divine strength are my first light. My most important light. My husband and our restorative and love filled life together, is my second. My children are probably the most bright of my lights and though that light flickers with the day to day struggles of stay at home motherhood it is the most resilient.
And lastly but certainly not least in any way. Cooking and crafting. Making things with my hands. Building my home with my creativity and my love for beauty and whimsy, searching out the perfect vintage find, the perfect shade of red, the perfect scrap of wood, the perfect piece of paper to document the photos that tell our story... is my light. The healthy and yummy meal that fills my children's bellies and lays the groundwork for time spent around the kitchen table... is my light.
This light is what brings me here. The need to share my light with my world. So welcome. My hope and prayer is to bring you joy and laughter. To teach you that ANYONE can cook. Show you how you can use your gifts to create a home you love. Show you how to give gifts from the heart without spending a fortune. To inspire you to use your hands and your artistic abilities (yes, you do have those!) and remind you that time with yourself, alone, creating, can be one of the greatest gifts you can ever give yourself.
